Stop Motion Memories: The Magical Movies Of Ray Harryhausen
£9.99
Ray Harryhausen’s genius at stop motion animation began with a childhood fascination with King Kong and led to his magical debut making films with George Pal. After his feature film breakthrough with The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953) he teamed with producer Charles H. Schneer to make such classic screen fantasies as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958) and Jason and the Argonauts (1963). He also created dinosaurs for Hammer Films’ One Million Years B.C. (1966) and took audiences into The Valley of Gwangi (1969). Other Harryhausen masterworks include The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973); Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1977); and Clash of the Titans (1981). This fascinating celebration of Ray’s life, written by experts (some of whom were his friends in real life), is packed with little-known facts and gloriously illustrated with rare stills, many showing Ray working his magic behind the scenes.
